Different polyesters are transformed during the manufacturing process to produce a thin, transparent film that adheres to glass when a pressure sensitive or a CDF (Clear, Distortion Free) adhesive is activated by a mild solution of dishwashing detergent and water.

Window film is micro thin, composed of polyester and metallized coatings bonded by adhesives. It is installed onto glass surfaces to provide significant solar protection. It screens out heat, blocks out 99% of the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays and harsh, uncomfortable glare deflects while allowing glare-controlled sunlight to pass through. By adapting to changes of season, (reflecting the hot sun in the summer, and, with Low E film, reradiating heat in the winter) it helps keep you comfortable all year long.

Window film is typically installed on the interior side of a window. As it is a finished product, is best installed after all other nearby construction is complete. If access to the interior side of the window is difficult to obtain, an exterior application can be performed.

The individual installation steps, assuming a typical interior application, would be as follows:

  • Prepare window area by placing drop cloths on floor and/or moving nearby furniture
  • Thoroughly clean interior side of glass pane and gaskets with a mild solution of dishwashing detergent and water to remove dirt and other residue
  • Wet glass with solution
  • Place film against glass
  • Squeegee to remove excess solution between glass and film
  • Trim film to gasket
  • 5-way film edges to ensure film lies flat
  • Wipe film to ensure clean finished product
  • Remove drop cloths and replace furniture to original positions

Not recommended. The film’s specially designed adhesive will not adhere to Plexiglas® very well.

Absolutely! You will notice enhanced energy performance from your tinted / Low-E glass windows after installation.

SunPro window film are warrantied for life against blistering, bubbling, cracking, crazing, delaminating, fading, demetalizing, discoloring, or peeling when properly installed on the interior surface of glass. Commercial warranties vary between 10 and 15 years.

Absolutely! The amount of money saved depends upon the type of film chosen and certain property-specific variables (location, climate, existing energy costs, HVAC system, etc…). After obtaining some basic energy unit costs for a given building (minimum of 5,000 square feet of glass), we will conduct an Energy Audit to estimate the annual dollars saved by different film types.

Yes! Furniture and fabric fade is partially caused by the sun’s ultraviolet rays. All SunPro installed window films block out 98% – 99% of UV light.

Window films may be washed with common ammonia free washing solutions (Huper Optik Ceramic films can use ammonia-based products) thirty days after installation. Abrasive cleaning agents and bristle brushes (that would scratch the film) cannot be used. Synthetic sponges, squeegees, or soft cloths are recommended in addition to the cleaning solution. To maintain your warranty, do not use tape or other adhesive products on the film.

SunPro guarantees that our window film products will conform to the stated manufacture’s warranty specifications without cracking, demetalizing, peeling or delaminating.
